Classic Door
Classic doors have a reputation they do not deserve: beautiful, and permanently at the mercy of the weather.
Ours keep the traditional panelled proportions and real-timber feel, but are built on an aluminium-and-wood system that does not swell in winter, drop in its frame, or need sanding back every few years.

The look, without the maintenance cycle
A traditional panelled door in a solid timber or MDF build behaves badly with humidity. It absorbs moisture in the cold months, expands, starts to stick, then shrinks in summer and leaves an uneven reveal. Owners of period properties know the ritual: plane the edge, fill the paint, adjust the hinge, repeat.
Our construction removes the mechanism of that failure. The aluminium frame and leaf perimeter carry the dimensional stability; the wood core carries the appearance. You get the shadow lines and proportions of a classic door with a leaf that stays true for the life of the frame.
Panelled to your proportions
Classic panelling is a matter of proportion, not pattern. We cut the raised-and-fielded or shaker-style panels
to your architect’s or designer’s drawings, so the door matches existing joinery in the property or the
elevation drawings of a new build. Specify:
- panel count, size and rail width
- raised, sunken or flush-in-frame detailing
- matching architrave and skirting profiles
- paired or mirrored leaves for double openings
- glazed panels with real or decorative glass
Any finish, matched by hand
Lacquer, stain, limed, or a colour matched to a sample you send us. Because the substrate is stable, the finish stays even — paint does not crack at the panel edges the way it does on a leaf that keeps moving. We also supply pre-finished or primed leaves, depending on whether your joiner is doing the final coat on site.
Acoustic performance as standard
The mass of the aluminium-wood leaf means a classic door from us shuts out sound at a measured [Rw __ dB] — noticeably better than a standard hollow-core alternative. For bedrooms off a busy hallway, or a study next to a stairwell, that is the difference a classic construction detail quietly delivers.
